Tap the search bar at the top of Home to open Find, then type part of a name, a reference number, an eBay item number or a bin code. Results show as you type, with where each item is kept.

Open Find

  • On a phone, tap the search bar on Home. To scan a label instead, tap the scan button at the end of the bar.
  • On a computer, click the search bar on Home, or press ⌘K on a Mac (Ctrl+K on other computers) from any page.

What you can search for

Type any of these, or a mix:

  • Words from the title, like jacket or charizard
  • The item's reference, like HM-0412 (your shop's prefix, then the number)
  • Its inventory number, with a #, like #112
  • An eBay item number
  • A bin or shelf code, like B27, to see everything in it
  • A bin and slot, like B27-03, for the one item in that spot
  • A building, room or shelf name, which finds everything stored inside it

Find also looks at the item's fields (like Conflict or Set), its item type and category, the year, its tag, its other details and the consignor's name.

Every word you type has to match, in any order. b27 jacket finds jackets in bin B27. Capitals don't matter.

Reading the results

Each result shows the title, then the reference, the price and where it's listed: on eBay, on the website, not listed or sold. If you searched an eBay item number, it shows that number instead.

On the right is where the item is:

  • its bin and slot, like B27-03
  • No bin if it hasn't been put away
  • Sold or Missing

Find shows up to 30 matches. If you see 30+ items, add another word to narrow it down.

If nothing matches, Find says so and offers Add it as a new item.

Scan a label

On a phone, tap the scan button on Home's search bar, or inside Find. The camera opens.

  • Scan a bin label, and that bin opens.
  • Scan an item's label, and that item opens.
  • Scan anything else, and Find searches for what it read.

On a computer, click Or use this computer’s camera in Find, or plug in a USB barcode scanner and scan into the search box. See Print bin labels and scan them.

Recent searches and bins

On a phone, before you type, Find shows your Recent searches and your Bins. Tap one to use it. On a computer they're beside the results, under Recent and Jump to a bin.

Recent searches are kept on the device you searched on.

Closing Find

On a computer, press Esc once to clear the search, and again to close Find. On a phone, use the menu at the bottom.

Searching in Inventory

The search box at the top of Inventory works the same way, but keeps your filters. Use it when you want, say, only listed items in one bin. See Inventory: filters, select mode and bulk actions.
