Refunds and disputes

How to refund a website order in Stripe, what Lotmaster does after a refund or dispute, and the eBay choices in To review.

You refund website orders in your own Stripe account, not in Lotmaster. When Stripe tells us about a full refund, Lotmaster puts the item back in stock. Disputes are answered in Stripe too, and Lotmaster shows you each one in Sell β†’ To review.

Card payments on your website are on Pro and Business, and during your free trial.

You're the seller on your website's sales, so the money, refunds and disputes all sit in your Stripe account. Lotmaster never holds the money.

Refund an order

  1. Open your Stripe dashboard. The Open Stripe button in Settings β†’ Payments and shipping takes you there.
  2. Find the payment and refund it in Stripe.

That's all you do in Stripe. Lotmaster hears about the refund from Stripe and does the rest.

What Lotmaster does after a full refund

  • The sale is undone. The copies go back in stock.
  • If the item has an eBay listing, the order shows in Sell β†’ To review as Card sale refunded, so you can decide what happens on eBay (below).
  • If it has no eBay listing, there's nothing for you to do.

A partial refund, such as giving back the shipping, leaves the sale as it is. The item stays sold.

The eBay choices in To review

When you sell on your website, Lotmaster ends the item's eBay listing, or takes the copies sold off it. After a refund, the Card sale refunded card asks what to do:

  • Put it back on eBay (or Put 3 copies back on eBay, for several copies) when the listing is still up. The copies go back on the listing.
  • Relist on eBay when the listing has ended. This opens the relist page for the item.
  • Leave it keeps eBay as it is.

Disputes

When a buyer opens a dispute with their card company, the order shows in Sell β†’ To review as Card sale disputed: "The buyer opened a dispute in Stripe. Answer it there before the deadline."

  1. Tap Open in Stripe β†— to go to the payment in your Stripe account.
  2. Answer the dispute there.
  3. Back in Lotmaster, tap Done to clear the card.

Lotmaster doesn't change the item when a dispute is opened. It stays sold.

Now and then a buyer pays on your website in the same moment the last copy sells somewhere else. Lotmaster doesn't record a second sale. Instead the order shows in Sell β†’ To review as Card sale to refund, and we email you to say a refund is needed.

  1. Tap Open in Stripe β†— and refund the buyer there.
  2. Tap Refunded, done. Once Stripe tells us about the refund, the card also clears by itself.

Each of these cards also counts towards Card sales to look at in the Needs your attention card on Home.
