Consignment: track consigned items and pay consignors

Mark an item as consigned, set the consignor's share, and see and record what you owe each consignor.

If you sell items for other people, tick Consignment on the item, add the consignor's name and their share. Lotmaster then works out what you owe them on each sale, and reminds you on Home until you mark it paid.

Available on Pro and Business, and during your free trial.

Mark an item as consigned

  1. Open the item and tap Edit, or start a new item with Add item.
  2. Open the What you paid section.
  3. Tick Consignment ("You’re selling it for someone else").
  4. In Consignor, type their name. Names you've used before show in a list as you type. Pick one and its last share is filled in for you.
  5. In Their share, enter their percentage, from 0 to 100. For example, 70 for a 70/30 split.
  6. Leave Paid empty, unless you bought a stake in the item yourself.
  7. Save the item.

Pick names from the list when you can, so the spelling matches. Lotmaster groups consignors by name exactly as it's typed.

How their share is worked out

Their share is a percentage of what the item sells for, after marketplace fees. So fees are split between you and the consignor. Shipping a website buyer paid is yours, not the consignor's.

The item's page shows the consignor and their share, and while it's for sale, what their share would be at your asking price.

When it sells

Each sale of a consigned item shows Owed to and the consignor's name on the item's page, with the amount and "not paid".

On Home, the Needs your attention card shows Consignment sales to pay out while any are unpaid. Tap it to go to the Consignors section of Reports.

Pay a consignor

Lotmaster doesn't send money. You pay the consignor your usual way, then record it here.

  1. Go to Reports, and scroll to Consignors. On a phone, Reports is on the More tab. On a computer, it's in the sidebar.
  2. Each consignor has a card with Asking (what their unsold items are priced at), Paid out and Owed, and a list of the sales you still owe them for.
  3. Tap Mark $… paid (it shows the amount) and confirm.

Every unpaid sale for that consignor is now marked paid, and Owed goes to $0.

To mark one sale at a time, open the item and tap Mark paid next to Owed to. Tapped it by mistake? The same button then says Undo.

Find a consignor's items

  • Tap a consignor's name in Reports → Consignors to see all their items in Inventory.
  • In Inventory, the filters have Owned and consigned, Owned only and Consigned only.

On Reports

The sales part of Reports has a Consignors’ share tile, with how much is still owed, and How profit adds up takes the consignors' share out before your profit. Under For sale right now, consigned items are counted apart from your own stock, with roughly what your cut would be.

If you change plan

On Starter, consignment isn't included, so you can't mark new items as consigned. Items that already have a consignor keep it, and everything above keeps working for them.
