A new shop's website shows "coming soon" until you publish it. You publish it from the last step of the setup wizard, Publish your website.
Only the shop's owner can do this. Helpers don't see the setup wizard.
Publish it
- Open the Publish your website step:
- while you're still in the setup wizard, it's the last of the nine steps;
- if you finished the wizard without publishing, tap Set up: Publish your website in the Needs your attention card on Home.
- Check Your website’s address. Tap it to open your website in a new tab.
- Tap Publish my website.
You'll see "Your website is live", and your website opens to everyone.
If you're not ready, tap Not yet. The step stays on your list, and visitors keep seeing "coming soon".
Before you publish
Visitors to your address see your shop's name with "is coming soon" and "The shop isn’t open yet. Please check back soon." There's no menu, and search engines are asked to stay away.
You can still try themes: the preview links in Pick a theme, or in Website look and pages, show your website with your items, only to you, for an hour. See Pick a theme and make it yours.
What changes when you publish
- Visitors see your full website: your home page, Shop, About, Contact and your items.
- Search engines can find it.
- If you've connected Stripe and your plan includes website checkout, your items get a Buy now button. Until you publish, Settings → Payments and shipping says "Your website shows a Buy button once it’s published."
Publishing doesn't put items on it
Publishing opens the website, but items only appear once you put them on it. On each item, turn on Show on the website (on the item page, or in the Website section of the item form). The item also needs at least one photo that's shown on the website.
Check it's live
- On the main Settings page, the website tile says Website live with your address, or Website not live yet.
- On an item that's on the website, the Your website tile says On the website once you've published, and Once it’s published before.
Can I unpublish?
There's no button to take a published website offline. If you need it taken down, ask us through Help & chat: at the bottom of the sidebar on a computer, or on the More tab on a phone.
