Send a newsletter

Email your subscribers your newest items: pick the items, write a note, preview it, send a test, then send it to your list.

The Newsletter page emails your subscribers a set of your items, with a photo, price and link for each. You pick the items, write a subject and a short note, look at the email, and send it.

Available on Pro and Business, and during your free trial.

Only the shop's owner can send to the list. Helpers can write one, look at it and send themselves a test.

Before your first one

In Settings → Shop and helpers, check two things:

  • Shop email: replies to your newsletter come here.
  • Postal address: it goes in the footer of every newsletter. US law requires one before you send to a list.

The newsletter comes from your shop's name.

Send a newsletter

  1. Open Newsletter. On a phone, it's on the More tab. On a computer, it's in the sidebar.
  2. Under 1. Pick items, tap the items to include. Your 20 newest items that haven't been in a newsletter yet are picked to start with. You can pick up to 30. Clear unpicks them all.
  3. Under 2. Write it, change the Subject if you like, and write your Note from the shop.
  4. Look at the email. On a phone, tap Preview the email. On a computer, the preview sits beside the form and updates as you type.
  5. Tap Test to me to get a copy in your own inbox first.
  6. Tap Send to (it shows how many people are on your list) and confirm. Sending can't be undone.

If you tap send before looking at the latest version, Lotmaster shows you the email first. Tap send again to go ahead.

Which items can go in

Any item that isn't sold or kept, and has at least one photo that isn't marked private. It doesn't have to be on your website.

The buttons above the items help you find them: Newest, Not listed anywhere and Sent before (items an earlier newsletter showed).

Each item links to its page on your website. If it isn't on your website, it links to its eBay listing, and if it isn't on eBay either, to your website's Contact page. The item's main photo that isn't private goes in the email, where anyone with the email can see it.

What was sent

Tap Sent emails on a phone, or All sent emails on a computer. Each newsletter shows when it went, how many items it had, how many people it was sent to, and how many inboxes it was delivered to. For the first hour it says "Sending. Deliveries show up within the hour." Delivery counts are kept for 90 days.

Your subscribers

Tap the number of subscribers at the top of the page to see the list. Only the owner can see who's on it. You can add someone by hand with Add someone. Every newsletter has a link readers can use to unsubscribe.

If you see a message

  • Your website is catching up: wait a minute before sending, so links to newly published items work.
  • Sending is paused: the message says why. Usually too many readers marked your newsletters as spam, or too many emails bounced. Contact support to send again. Signups and unsubscribes still work, and you can still look at it and send yourself a test.
  • Nothing to send yet: newsletters show items that aren't sold and have a photo. Add some, or import them from eBay.

On Starter

The newsletter isn't included in Starter. If you move to Starter, your subscribers stay on the list, but you can't send.
