Sales tax on your website's sales is yours to handle. Lotmaster doesn't calculate, collect, file or pay sales tax for you.

Card payments on your website are on Pro and Business, and during your free trial.

Why it's yours

When a buyer pays on your website, the payment goes into your own Stripe account. You're the seller on that sale, not Lotmaster. So collecting and paying sales tax on it is your job, as our terms of service set out.

What Lotmaster does at checkout

Lotmaster doesn't add sales tax to a website order. The buyer pays the item's price and the shipping you set, and nothing else.

Stripe Tax

Stripe, the company that takes your card payments, has its own tax service called Stripe Tax. It lives in your Stripe account, not in Lotmaster.

  1. Open Settings → Payments and shipping. On a phone, Settings is on the More tab. On a computer, it's in the sidebar.
  2. Scroll to Sales tax.
  3. Tap Set up Stripe Tax. It opens Stripe Tax in your Stripe account.

Stripe's own help pages explain what Stripe Tax does and what it costs. If you have questions about what you owe, or where, ask a tax professional. We can't advise on tax.

Sales on eBay and elsewhere

This article is only about card sales on your website. Lotmaster doesn't handle sales tax on sales anywhere else either.
