What you can't sell through Lotmaster

The items you can't sell on your Lotmaster website or through website checkout, and what to know about items with Nazi markings.

Some things can't be sold or shown on your Lotmaster website, through website checkout or in newsletters: weapons, ammunition, ordnance, counterfeits and paid chances at a prize. The full rules are in our acceptable use policy at lotmaster.app/acceptable-use.

Before you connect Stripe, Lotmaster shows a short version of these rules, headed What you can’t sell on your website, in Settings → Payments and shipping and in the setup wizard's card payments step.

Why there are rules

Every shop takes payments on its own Stripe account, so what one shop sells can cost it its card payments, and it reflects on every shop. The rules are part of the terms of service you agree to when you sign up.

Not allowed

  • Weapons: firearms, including deactivated guns; firearm parts; knives, bayonets and swords.
  • Ammunition, including dummy and inert rounds.
  • Ordnance and explosives, inert or not: grenades, shells, mines, fuzes and the like.
  • Counterfeits, and reproductions or replicas sold as originals. A reproduction can be sold when it's clearly described as one.
  • Paid chances at a prize: card breaks, mystery boxes, pay-to-pull, raffles, and anything else where a buyer pays for a chance at what they'll get.
  • Anything illegal to sell where you or your buyer are, stolen goods, and items that infringe someone else's trademark or copyright.
  • Content that promotes hate or violence against people for their race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or national origin, in your listings, descriptions, website pages or newsletters.

Items with Nazi markings

Historical items with Nazi markings, such as swastikas or SS runes, can be listed when they're presented as historical artifacts. Before you list them, know that:

  • Stripe and PayPal both prohibit items that promote hate or violence, and either may refuse payments or close your account over them.
  • eBay bans most items made after 1933 that show a swastika.
  • Some countries, including Germany, restrict selling or showing them.

Selling them is your decision and your risk. Nothing on a page may celebrate or promote what the markings stand for.

Fine to sell

Uniforms, medals, helmets, insignia, documents and photographs without hate symbols. Trading cards, sealed product and graded slabs. Other collectibles that aren't in the lists above.

Sealed boxes and packs sold as they are, with the buyer opening them, are fine. The rule is only about selling a chance at what's inside.

eBay and Stripe have their own rules

Listings you send to eBay must also follow eBay's rules, which are stricter in places. Your Stripe account must follow Stripe's. Check both if you're unsure about an item.

What happens if something breaks the rules

Depending on how serious it is, we may:

  • ask you to take the item or content down, usually giving you 7 days,
  • hide the item or content from your website ourselves,
  • turn off website checkout or newsletters for your shop,
  • suspend the shop, or close it under the terms of service.

For anything illegal or dangerous we may act at once, without warning. Otherwise we'll tell you what's wrong and give you a chance to fix it. If you think we got it wrong, reply to our email or write to [email protected], and a person will look at it again.

Seen something on another shop?

If a shop made with Lotmaster breaks these rules, email [email protected] with the address of the page.
