Set up eBay business policies before listing
Listing on eBay from Lotmaster needs a shipping, a payment and a return policy saved in your eBay account first. Here's what to set up.

To list on eBay from Lotmaster, your eBay account needs business policies: at least one shipping policy, one payment policy and one return policy. You make them once, in eBay's own settings, and then pick them for each listing in Lotmaster.
Why Lotmaster needs them
When you list an item, Lotmaster doesn't ask for postage costs, return terms or payment details itself. It uses the business policies saved in your eBay account, the same ones you'd pick when listing on eBay. Lotmaster only reads them. It never creates or changes them.
Lotmaster lists on eBay's US site, so the policies need to be ones eBay offers for US listings.
Set them up in eBay
- Sign in to eBay with the account connected to Lotmaster.
- In eBay, open Account → Business policies, and make sure business policies are turned on.
- Create at least one shipping policy, one payment policy and one return policy.
It's a one-time job of about five minutes. If you sell different kinds of things (light cards and heavy helmets, say), you can make several shipping policies and pick the right one each time.
If one of your policies is marked as the default in eBay, Lotmaster puts it first and picks it for you.
Pick them when you list
On the List on eBay page, step 4 Photos and shipping has a list for each:
- Shipping
- Payment
- Returns
Your default policies show "(default)" beside their name. Lotmaster remembers what you picked last time on that phone or computer, and starts there next time.
If your shipping policy charges by weight, fill in Packed weight and the box's Length, Width and Height on the same step. They're saved to the item when it lists, so the next listing starts from them.
If Lotmaster says a policy is missing
- "Set up eBay business policies first": your eBay account is missing one or more of the three. The message says which ones. Make them in eBay, then open List on eBay again.
- "Couldn’t read the eBay shipping, payment and return policies": eBay didn't hand them over. It usually means business policies aren't turned on in your eBay account. Check Account → Business policies in eBay, then come back to the page.
- "Reconnect eBay to allow listing": your eBay connection was made with read-only access. The shop's owner reconnects it in Settings → eBay and fees. Nothing else changes.
