The setup wizard opens when you confirm your email. It has nine short steps, from your shop's name to publishing your website. Most steps can be skipped, and you can finish them later from Home.
Only the shop's owner can use the setup wizard. Helpers who open it are taken to Home.
Getting around
- On a phone, a bar of nine segments at the top shows where you are: blue for this step, dark for done, amber for skipped. Tap a segment to jump to that step. The back arrow goes back a step.
- On a computer, the steps are listed on the left. Tap one to go to it. Done steps have a tick, and skipped ones say skipped.
- Finish later, top right, takes you to Home. Nothing you've saved is lost.
Each step's main button saves it and takes you to the next one. Skip for now (or the step's own skip button, like I don’t use eBay) moves on without saving. Your shop and What you sell have no skip button: fill them in to move on.
The nine steps
1. Your shop
Your Shop name, Your name and the Currency your prices are in. Tap Continue.
Your logo and your website's colors aren't here. They're under Website in the sidebar, or Settings → Website look and pages.
2. Connect eBay
Tap Connect eBay, sign in on eBay and approve the connection. You come straight back to the wizard. If you don't sell on eBay, tap I don’t use eBay. See Connect your eBay account.
3. Import from eBay
Once eBay is connected, this step shows how many active listings it found. Pick All and the number to bring them all in, or Let me choose to pick from the list and ignore the rest. Then tap Import and the number, or Continue.
Imported items don't have a bin yet. They wait in Inventory under Needs a location until you put them away. See Import your eBay listings.
4. Import a spreadsheet
Have your stock in a spreadsheet, or in Vendoo or List Perfectly? Tap Choose a CSV file to import it. There are also blank templates for each kind of item. If you don't have one, tap Skip, I’ll add items myself. See Import from a spreadsheet (CSV).
5. What you sell
Tick the kinds of items you sell: Militaria, Trading cards, Sports cards, Video games and consoles or Other collectibles. Each one gives the add item form the right fields. Pick at least one, then tap Continue with and the number you picked. See Item types, categories and fields.
6. Where things are stored
Make a building with shelves and numbered bins in one go. Give the building a code, choose how many Shelves and Bins on each, check the preview, then tap Make and the number of bins. If you'd rather build your own, use the Locations page and come back. See Quick start: set up your shelves and bins in one go.
7. Pick a theme
Choose how your website looks: Heritage, Gallery, Arcade or Showcase. Preview with your shop opens a preview of your website in that theme, in a new tab. Tap Use and the theme's name and continue. See Pick a theme and make it yours.
8. Take card payments
Tap Connect Stripe to connect your own Stripe account, so your website can take card payments paid straight to your bank. You can sign in to Stripe or make an account on the way. See Connect Stripe to take card payments.
9. Publish your website
This shows your website's address. Until you publish, visitors see "coming soon" there. Tap Publish my website to put it online, or Not yet to leave it for later. Items show on your website once you turn on Show on the website for each one. See Publish your website.
When you finish
Leaving the last step finishes the wizard. You'll see You’re all set, or Nearly there if you skipped anything, with a list of each step. Skipped steps have Do it now beside them. Tap Go to Home when you're done.
Coming back to a skipped step
- While the wizard isn't finished, Home shows Finish setting up, with how many steps are done and what's next. Tap it to pick up where you stopped.
- After you finish, each skipped step is a row on Home's Needs your attention card, as Set up: and the step's name. Tap it to do that step, and you're taken back to Home after.
Some steps tick themselves off however you do them. Connecting eBay or Stripe in Settings, adding locations on the Locations page, or publishing your website all count, so you don't have to go back to the wizard for those.
