Quick start: set up your shelves and bins in one go

Make a building, its shelves and numbered bins in one step in the setup wizard, or add a numbered run of bins later.

You don't have to add bins one by one. The setup wizard can make a building, its shelves and all their bins in one go, and Add bins on the Locations page adds a numbered run, like B09 to B16, whenever you need more.

In the setup wizard

The sixth step, Where do you keep things?, makes your first layout.

Only the shop's owner sees the setup wizard. This step only appears for a shop with no locations yet.

  1. In Building or room, type a short code for the place. It starts as MAIN.
  2. Set Shelves to how many shelves you have (1 to 26). They're named A, B, C and so on.
  3. Set Bins on each to how many bins sit on each shelf (0 to 50).
  4. Check the preview. It shows the codes you'll get, such as "24 bins, B01 to B24, on shelves A to D".
  5. Tap Make 24 bins (with your number), or Make the shelves if you chose no bins.

Bins are numbered straight through, not shelf by shelf. With 6 bins on each shelf, shelf A has B01 to B06, shelf B has B07 to B12, and so on. That way every bin has a code of its own, and a scan or a search finds the right one.

You can make up to 300 bins this way. For more, start smaller and add the rest on the Locations page.

Want something different, like rooms or boxes? Tap Skip for now, or use the link to Build them yourself on the Locations page. You can come back to the wizard from Finish setting up on Home.

If you already have locations, the step says Your shelves are ready and links to the Locations page instead.

Add a run of bins later

  1. Go to Locations and tap Add bins. If you're looking at a shelf, the new bins go on that shelf.
  2. Choose A numbered run (or Just one for a single location).
  3. Pick what kind: Bins, Boxes or Shelves.
  4. Fill in Starts with (the letters before the number), From and To. Lotmaster suggests carrying on from the bins already there, so a shelf with B01 to B08 suggests B09 to B16.
  5. Check Inside, and set Each holds about if you want each one to show how full it is.
  6. Tap Add 8 bins (with your number).

Numbers get a leading zero up to two digits, so a run from 1 to 12 makes B01 to B12.

You can add up to 100 at a time. If some of the codes already exist, they're crossed out in the preview and skipped, and the rest are added.

Changing them afterwards

Every code, size and position can be changed. Open a bin or shelf and tap Edit bin or Edit shelf. Moving a shelf to another place takes its bins with it.
